Maternity, Labor & Child Health Management

The Maternity, Labor & Child Health module in MOANA provides obstetricians, midwives, pediatricians, and community health officers with a specialized clinical environment for maternal and child healthcare. It manages maternal antenatal records, labor progress partographs, delivery logging, neonatal resuscitation, official birth registrations linked to maternal MPI records, longitudinal pediatric growth monitoring, and expanded immunization tracking.

1. Antenatal Care & Labor Intake

When an expectant mother presents to the maternity unit:

  1. Mother MPI Verification: Scan the mother's Digital Health ID or search the Master Patient Index (MPI) to load her antenatal record.
  2. Obstetric History Review:
    • Gravida, Para, Term, Preterm, Abortions, Living children (GPAL summary).
    • Estimated Date of Delivery (EDD) and current Gestational Age.
    • Blood group and Rhesus status, Hepatitis B, HIV, and Syphilis serology screening.
    • High-risk obstetric tags (e.g., Pre-eclampsia, Gestational Diabetes, Previous C-Section, Placenta Previa).
  3. Labor Partograph Documentation:
    • Cervical dilatation (cm) plotted against the WHO alert and action lines.
    • Fetal heart rate monitoring (every 15–30 minutes).
    • Uterine contraction frequency and duration.
    • Amniotic fluid character (Intact, Clear, Meconium-stained, Blood-stained).

2. Delivery & Birth Event Registration

Immediately following delivery, the attending midwife or obstetrician launches the Register Birth Wizard:
