Reports, Clinical Analytics & Epidemiological Surveillance

This section describes hospital executive analytics, clinical performance indicators, and the specialized National Disease Surveillance Dashboard, including geospatial hotspot mapping, outbreak early warning rules, and FHIR epidemiological exports.

1. Available Analytical Dashboards

Dashboard NameAccessible ByKey Clinical & Operational Metrics
Clinical AnalyticsDoctor, AdministratorTop ICD-10 diagnoses, disease burden, clinical documentation compliance rates, readmission rates.
Medication AnalyticsPharmacist, AdministratorTop prescribed medicines, allergy override rates, controlled drug ledger monitoring, antibiotic stewardship.
Operational AnalyticsAdministrator, Nurse ManagerReal-time bed occupancy by ward, Average Length of Stay (ALOS), clinic wait times, OPD/IPD/ED volumes, peak hours.
Laboratory AnalyticsLab Supervisor, AdministratorOrder vs. result volumes, turnaround times (TAT) by test type, abnormal and critical panic result rates.
Radiology AnalyticsRadiologist, AdministratorImaging volumes by modality (XR/CT/US/MRI), pending report queue, average radiologist reporting turnaround.
Maternal & Child HealthAdministrator, Clinical LeadLive births, NICU admissions, immunization coverage, WHO growth z-score percentiles.
Referral AnalyticsDoctor, AdministratorReferral volumes, specialist acceptance rates, transfer times, clinical referral outcomes.
MOH Executive DashboardHospital AdministratorNational Ministry of Health (MOH) indicator sets — configured for statutory epidemiological reporting.

2. Report Exports & Backend Data Architecture

The MOH Executive Dashboard supports standardized HL7 FHIR R4 MeasureReport export for direct electronic submission to the Ministry of Health. All operational dashboards support PDF Executive Dossiers and Excel / CSV Raw Datasets. All figures are generated from live database queries — zero sample data.

IMPORTANT:

Report Screen vs. Analytics Backend The three named report screens in the Moana Desktop application each query a dedicated operational backend module rather than the aggregated analytical data warehouse. If a metric in a named operational report screen displays a minor discrepancy with an aggregated analytical dashboard, this architectural difference is the cause. Contact the Moana Technical Team if investigation of an unexpected data variance is required.

3. National Disease Surveillance Dashboard

The dedicated Surveillance Dashboard delivers population-level epidemiological intelligence:

Step 1: Geospatial Hotspot Mapping

  • Real-time GIS choropleth and cluster map visualizes epidemic presentations by district, village, and health facility coordinates.
  • Tracks acute communicable diseases (Dengue, Typhoid, Measles, Malaria, Cholera, COVID-19, Influenza-like Illness).
  • Color-coded cluster pins indicate case velocity (Cases / 1,000 Population).

Step 2: Outbreak Early Warning Rule Engine

  • Threshold Alert Engine: Configure statistical baseline tripwires (e.g., If suspected Dengue cases in District 3 exceed 5 cases in 48 hours, trigger High Alert).
  • Automated Escalations: Broadcasts instant SMS/Email alerts to public health emergency response teams.

Step 3: Facility Coverage Panel

  • Monitors regional clinic reporting adherence:
    • Tracks which rural aid posts and district clinics have synced their daily offline disease registers.
    • Highlights silent facilities that haven't reported data within 24 hours.

Step 4: Interoperable FHIR & DHIS2 Export

  1. In Surveillance, click Export Epidemiological Data.
  2. Select time window and notifiable condition registry.
  3. Choose format:
    • FHIR MeasureReport / Bundle: For regional digital health exchange.
    • DHIS2 XML / JSON Payload: For national Ministry of Health DHIS2 epidemiological repository.
    • CSV / Excel: For local statistical modeling.
  4. Click Download Export Package.
